Far Cry 2 too high?

Turns out my PC can't handle Far Cry 2, so I'll pass on that. Seems most new PC games require me to upgrade my video card again. This ATI Radeon X1300 isn't cutting it with new releases. Anything released last year seems to work fine, but 2008 releases seem to have a jump in system requirements. I don't even meet the bare minimum for Far Cry 2.

Since I'm not playing any "new release" games, I'll probably invest in some new hardware. I'm looking at gamepads now, planning to use one with Portal and Morrowind, if possible. I will remain hopeful that Fallout 3 will work for me. The official site says the minimum is a X850, so I think I'll be fine. Shame for Far Cry 2, though. I guess I won't be reviewing that anytime soon. Sorry.

System Requirements

Oh, and the system requirements, since I had some trouble finding them, are found on Steam, and here they are for anyone's convenience:

Minimum:

Supported OS: Microsoft Windows XP or Windows Vista (64 is supported)
Processor: Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz, Pentium D 2.66 Ghz, AMD Athlon 64 3500+ or better
Memory: 1 GB
Graphics: 256 MB, Shader Model 3 required, NVidia 6800 or ATI X1650 or better*
Hard Drive: 3.5 GB (Multiple saves and user created maps will increase the amount of needed hard disk space.)
*Supported Video cards: NVidia 6800, NVidia 7000 series, 8000 series, 9000 series, 200 series. 8800M and 8700M supported for laptops. ATI X1650 – 1950 series , HD2000 series , HD3000 series , HD4000 series

My ATI X1300 is just below the minimum requirement, and I'm not certain whether my hyper-threading 2.40Ghz Pentium 4 would help, but I think it would be able to handle the game's minimum requirement of 3.2Ghz, just because it has hyper-threading, which is like having two processors.

I've decided.

I'm getting Far Cry 2, anyway, despite the fact that it probably won't work on my PC. In hopes of awesomeness, I'm gonna try the game on my ATI X1300, but I gotta find a time to go get it first, because practically everywhere is sold out or simply hasn't stocked it yet. The games I'm hoping to collect are the following:

1. Far Cry 2 - released Oct. 21, although Target keeps saying the release date is October 23.
2. Fallout 3 - released Oct. 28, probably getting this one *before* Far Cry 2.
3. Legendary - released November 4.
4. GTA4 - the PC version finally gets released on November 18.
5. Left4Dead - released November 20, I will get this ASAP!
6. Last and certainly the least interesting is Prince of Persia, released December 2.

I'll probably grab Oblivion again soon, too, because Morrowind's mods really are starting to show their age. I thought it'd be fun to go back to Morrowind, but Oblivion is just so much prettier, and I miss the awesome mods I had. Heck, I miss modding Oblivion in general. Morrowind's just not as fun to mess around with.

Fallout 3 takes priority over

Fallout 3 takes priority over everything...

You got.... Radium Eyes.

Definitely.

I really love Bethesda games, and it shows, because I mod Morrowind now, and I must have bought Morrowind around twenty times. I also bought Oblivion twice, and the only reason I quit playing it was due to losing the game and not having it on the computer any longer. I only bought Morrowind for the 20th time (or something like that) a few days ago, and I've decided to stick with Morrowind for a little while, until I get Fallout 3. Once I 'beat' Fallout 3, if there's no SDK available yet, I'll most likely buy Oblivion again and mod that. We'll see.

I doubt you'll be able to go

I doubt you'll be able to go back to Morrowind or Oblivion after playing Fallout 3, though. Srsly, bombed out DC for the win. Also, I've been waiting for this game for close to ten years now. Yes, I have been playing Fallout 2 since I was 5.

As a quick side note, it's going to be really interesting to see how they have any leveling up (RPG shit) with guns. I've thought of a couple of ways but VATS beats all my ideas.

You got.... Radium Eyes.

ha, so true, but still...

I will be modding Morrowind for a short while, until Fallout 3 has mod tools or a SDK, like the Construction Set bundled with Morrowind and Oblivion. If I can mod Fallout 3, though, I'll kiss Morrowind goodbye. I still think I might play Oblivion, though, because I had a dragon to zoom through the air with.
